When I completed yoga teacher training, I was surrounded by students who seemed to already know exactly what their teaching practice would look like. That wasn’t the case, of course - but it sure felt that way.
I, on the other hand, had no clue. With a full-time job that takes up more than 40 hours a week, a partner, and something between a large garden and a tiny homestead (chickens make it a homestead, right?!), I couldn’t imagine committing to teaching every week.
I also didn’t have a space - and still don’t. The idea of inviting people into my home is tough, not just for me but also for my family. At the same time, all my best yoga memories come from a studio I thought of as my studio, a place where I belonged, where I felt at home because of both the space and the teacher.
It took time, but the seeds of Xflow grew from accepting my own limited time and energy and focusing on what I can do - what feels right-sized for me. Through limited class series emphasizing repetition, I can offer students a deep connection to flows and poses they can take beyond the studio. In workshops, we can target specific poses to better understand the practice. And in one-on-one sessions, we can dive into personal goals, whether refining a pose or setting an intention. All of this happens together in a space that may not always be familiar but can adapt to meet our changing needs.
It’s still evolving. A year from now, things might look different, and who knows what Xflow will be in three years (in an epic leap of faith, that’s how long I have the domain!). But I hope you’ll come on this journey with me!
